‘How do you think we’ll get on without her?’
Shelly sighed and took the final sip from the mug of tea. ‘It won’t be the same, that’s for sure.’
Len nodded. ‘She always had a good word to say about others.’
‘Never spoke down to you. And she listened, actually listened, when you answered a question.’
‘Do you remember when we had that session around planning for the future?’
Shelly grinned. ‘We all thought it was a going to be a waste of time, but somehow it all made sense when she talked through the ideas and suggestions. She turned them into something that was possible.’
‘I always found her to be positive, but not patronising. She had a gift for seeing someone’s potential. Made you feel valued.’
‘I know what you mean, Len. When someone like that has faith in you, you can believe that you’re capable of more than you previously thought.’
The silence stretched as Shelly and Len sat with their thoughts a little longer.
‘Won’t be the same,’ Len murmured.
‘True. But I’m glad she crossed our paths.’
I’m participating in this blogging challenge for the month of January, which supports starting the year on the “write” track. You can find other posts with #bloganuary and join in the challenge.
