That continue to bloom in your garden
Those delicate camellia petals
You knew all of their names
Where they had come from
Which ones to pick
Which ones to admire in place

You are in the words of books
That we would talk about and share
The love of words and ideas
You inspired this in each of us
Your knowledge was incredible
Accumulated by a curious and questing mind
Everything was of interest

Each day there is something
That I wish I could share with you
I hold you close in my heart and mind
Smiling at memories of times together
Of words and comfortable silences
Knowing how much you loved us
Of how you were always there

On my first Mother’s Day, alone.
