Shade
There was a definite kind of heat underneath the look that he tossed her way, a seemingly careless glance that looked innocuous but she knew what it meant. Without a word, somehow he’d relegated her in a heartbeat from one that meant so much, to someone of such little consequence that her opinion didn’t matter at all.
Fade
A shimmering glow on the edge of the sky, the last of the day holding on tenaciously to the horizon. If I keep watching, standing still, maybe I can hold tight to the remnants of what has been the most perfect of days. Dusk streaks across the sky, quenching the last of the light. I exhale, letting it go.
Blade
Kitty sat on the lawn, clutching at the grass stalks which rippled in the breeze around her. It drove her nuts, the way her Mum never listened to her. Mum’s solution to everything was to go outside, get some fresh air. Kitty roared her frustration, her hands spiked by the verdant blades of grass as she wrenched them from the ground, sending them soaring into the sky.
These were written to a timer at my local writing group. It’s always interesting to see what direction we take the prompt towards.
