Grains of Gratitude

Written by:

One of the tiny changes that I’ve made in the past year has been scratching down three things I’m grateful for each day. This concise capturing of moments or things helps to redeem even an otherwise terrible day. And as the habit has become ingrained, I sometimes find myself sifting through a day to find glimpses of things I’m grateful for, as well as noting moments with merit as they happen.

Here are some of the things I’ve been grateful for recently.

  • Open spaces
  • Echidna (spotted scuttling off the road near Lithgow)
  • Laughing with Mum
  • Singing
  • Different experiences
  • Valley views
  • Clouds. Just because.
  • Magpie morning chorus
  • Sunshine
  • Reading in my chair
  • Full moon rising
  • Chores: routines rock
  • Books, my reliable escape
  • Home
  • Scribbling
  • Naps
  • Storm rolling in
  • Local radio
  • Dancing
  • Word joys
  • Being

What are you grateful for in your life?

So refreshing to see gratitude so valued! I’m grateful for having two feet and some good walking boots, and tracks to walk in the Mountains!

Hard to argue with that! I went on a bush wander today and as someone on the walk said to me, a day in nature is a good day 😊

I’m grateful for my health, my family, my dogs, my friends, my writing, and a number of other things I am usually to busy to properly appreciate!

Grateful for our long-distance round-the-world writer’s friendship. Your list is pretty close to mine, except for the echidna. What is it? xo

That is something that I’m really grateful for too – how distance is no longer a barrier to discovering like-minded folk around the world 😊. An echidna is an Australian anteater of sorts, it lays eggs and is usually rather shy. I’ve been traveling the same route for work for about four years and this is the first time one has wandered onto the road. I was pleased to see it wander back off of its own accord.
Thank you for your lovely comments 😌
