In my Mum’s front garden there are many delights. Lavender blooms scent the air throughout the year and during the cooler months, camellias provide a stunning display. There are a flowering gum and grevilleas, a treat for birds and bees alike.

One of my favourite plants is a yellow daisy bush (euryops pectinatus), also known as the golden daisy bush. Throughout the year there are intense periods of flowering with the bush thick with buds which erupt in bright yellow blooms, studded with bees keen to gather the pollen.
This bush is impossible to resist but the flowers are best left to provide a contrast to the dark green leaves. They may survive a couple of days if picked but are an ongoing joy if left alone.

I have my own yellow daisy bush courtesy of a cutting. It has grown tall and the flowers are less prolific but climate and conditions may play a part in this. It lifts my spirit to see the daisy in bloom, even if it is a restrained version.
I like to take photos when the daisy bush is in bloom. The bright yellow petals provide a sense of warmth and colour in the cooler months of winter.

These snapshots remind me of autumn sunshine, of warmth and colour, and they make my heart sing.
What has brightened your day recently?
